Citizenship
Free Companionship
- A Free Companionship,lasts for a single year. If it is not renewed by the twentieth Ahn of the anniversary date, it will automatically dissolve
- A Free Companionship will dissolve earlier than one year if one of the parties is either enslaved or dies.
- A woman does not change her name in a Free Companionship
The "gens" name is the clan name. The gens can only pass through the male line. Females can keep their gens in a Free Companionship, if it is part of
their contract, but they can never pass on the gens.
- Schendi allows for a man to have multiple Free Companions as per the books.

Rights
- Free Women of Schendi are those women of city who have reached puberty and have sworn allegiance to the Home Stone in an official ceremony of citizenship. Or those who have requested Citizenship,and are doing their time until swearing upon the Home Stone.
- The Free Women of Schendi are entitled to the protection of the Home Stone and the walls of the city.
- Free Women may own property and manage their businesses. Free Women may speak their minds on whatever topic they choose. Free Women are free to move about the public space of the cities without a male escort.

Access to Taverns and Brothels
Free Women may not enter a PagaDen,Brothel,or slavers house unaccompanied by a Free Man. Those will be punished according to the Law of Schendi. The exception is in case of emergency, a Physician may enter in to treat a patient until they can be moved to the Infirmary.

Obedience to Fathers, Companions, Protectors
Free women who are not companioned are expected to obey their father’s instruction.
Those free women whose fathers have moved on to the cities of dust, or for whom their whereabouts is unknown, may petition another free man of the city to be their protector of record. Said protector, or protectors, may fulfill the role of father for the free woman, including being responsible for her behavior in public, setting her bride price and giving permission for her to companion.
A free woman is not expected to adopt the caste of her protector if it differs from her own.
A free woman may list multiple protectors, records of which should be deposited with the caste of Scribes.
Those free women who refuse or are unable to obtain protection from a free man will be considered protectorates of the Administrator and/or the High Commander of the Red Caste. In these cases the Administrator or Commander will fulfill the role of father or protector for the free woman where such permission is needed. In the event that the Administrator of the city is a woman, such roles of protection shall be borne by the highest ranking male member of the High Council. In the event that the entire council is comprised of women, such roles of protection shall be borne by the city's High Commander.

Assault
The striking a free woman by a man without just cause,is a crime in the city of Schendi punishable by fines. Repeated offences will lead to imprisonment. The striking a free woman by another free woman is punishable by a fine set forth by a Magistrate of the City.

Attire
- The city of Schendi requires that free women cover themselves reasonably in public and not engage in nudity outside of their homes.
- The robes of concealment are not required by law, but the city does encourage modesty, with the covering of arms and shoulders,sheerer fabrics are allowed due to the excessive heat and humidity, and a dress length down to mid calf.If your dress is mid-calf you must have on boots that cover your ankles completely so as not to appear slavish.
- Women of High Caste should consider the pride of the city in their public selections and are encouraged to cover their entire bodies.
- Women are not required to wear hoods or veils within the city walls due to Schendi’s humidity and heat.
- Women may not wear male attire at any time within the city walls.
- Wearing slave silk or ear rings is a crime punishable by enslavement.
- Public nudity is a crime punishable by a fine set by the Magistrate. Repeated offenses may constitute behavior suitable for the collar.

Face Stripping
Within the city walls, a free woman shall not be forcibly face stripped without the order of a Magistrate. Those found guilty of such a crime shall be subject to fines and imprisonment.

Submission
Within the city walls, a free woman may offer herself in submission to a man who then has the opportunity to accept said submission and collar the woman, making her a slave, or refuse. If the act submission is refused the free woman will be brought to the Magistrate for her actions and punishment set by them. A free woman submitting herself before a free man grants the free man the ability to collar her without the order of a Magistrate. The free man should obtain witnesses to the submission that he might rightfully obtain papers from the Cylinder of Knowledge proving his ownership. The right of submission is suspended once an arrest warrant is issued for a free woman. From the moment the arrest warrant bears an official seal, the named free woman shall only have the right of submission to a Maigistrate of the city. Any man who accepts the submission of a woman for whom an arrest warrant has been issued is subject to the charge of theft, since said woman, once enslaved may only be considered the property of the city of Schendi. The Magistrate may grant leniency in such cases if he believes that the man was unaware of the outstanding warrant.

Life Debt
Any free woman whose life is saved by a free man of Schendi, who is not a relative of the free woman, by blood or companionship, may be claimed as a slave by said free man if he wishes her. Free men asserting such claims must present the woman and such evidence as exists pertaining to her rescue before a Magistrate of the city. If such evidence is found to support the claim the woman shall be sent for branding and collaring and papers issued to the free man confirming the woman as his property. Should the evidence be found not to support the claim of rescue the woman shall be released and escorted back to her domicile by Guardsmen.

Couching
The gorean laws of a free woman couching a slave is strictly enforced. A free woman who is caught and convicted of couching a slave she does not own directly is subject to immediate collaring and may be turned over to either the master of the slave she couched or the city of Schendi. All known property including slaves are then forfeit and become property of the city.
*Remember, while you are Free you are still a Woman and thus beneath a Man, a slave will speak to and follow the orders of a Man over yours

Collaring Offenses
Free women in Schendi are expected to conduct themselves with a level of decorum in public, worthy of their position as free women. No woman of Schendi may be force collared within the city walls without the order of a Magistrate. If any woman is accused of conduct befitting a collar, a complaint may be filed with the Praetor’s office. A Magistrate will then dispatch a member of the Red Caste to arrest the accused woman and will conduct a trial where witness testimony shall be required. The following are collarable offenses as deemed by the High Council:
* Public displays of lust.
* Wearing earrings in public.
* Vagrancy.
* Prostitution.
* Dressing as a slave in public, except during Kajuralia.
* Performing slave dance in public, except during Kajuralia.
* Conducting a gesture of submission before a free man
* Being shown to have a brand mark but no manumission papers.
* Theft (second-conviction).
* Refusal or inability to pay debts.
* Repeated public drunkenness or nudity.
* An overt act of submission- may be refused by the man if he does not desire the burden of keeping the woman. She will be brought the the Magistrate for punishment.
Free Women

Port Schendi is a trading Port with open trade to all with trade agreements with us and open to negotiations for trade to those who do not. Therefore, no cities name shall be slandered within the Ports borders. We host an Alliance Hall as a port being directly between the North and South of Gor, in which ALL cities wishing to meet will be hosted for treaty talks and trade agreements. These Cities representatives are under the protection of Schendi during such talks and the room is guarded by Schendi guards although a contingent of guards for the Representatives will be allowed entry but not in numbers greater than each other nor the Schendi guards. There is a City guards post on the street of cities near the hall and Compartments for Representatives to ensure peace within the Cities walls.

Fighting inside the City:
- If you fight in a "room"- Taverns, Inns, Public businesses are under the management of their owners, the Guard will respond if called upon at which point the Magistrate will be involved,otherwise handling of these matters will be left to the business owners.
- If you fight in the Streets of the City, thus endangering her citizens: The Guard will get you and place you in a cell/cage until a hearing is arranged.
- Challenges: You may issue Challenges to others,Challenge fights will have a set day and time and be in an arena. There must be witnesses and the logs kept and s copy shared with the Tatrix.

SCHENDI ROOM RULES AND OOC RULES
- Room Moderators: In all rooms the First Sword and the Administrator shall at least be on the List.
- Rooms concerning Kajirae and Kajiri of the City, The Head Slaver shall also be on the list.
- People should only be booted if they are rude and using ooc chat,non Gorean after asking if they are seeking a Gorean rp. or violating the laws of Schendi.If they come in and ask to learn, take them to the Schendi OOC room and speak with them there.
- No Free not of Schendi is to be in any kennel, tell them politely and ONLY once then boot.
- In rp, booting can be justified by the Guards taking the booted person away, but the booter must write that the guards take a hold of them and take them out of the room.
- Schendi will not block or ban anyone without due cause and the justice system. Individuals of the City will NEVER be ordered to block or ban anyone. Your friend choices are OOC and we recognize that
- Do not emote "thought" abuse (/me thinks she looks like the rear end of a bosk...) - it will be treated as OOC abuse and responded to accordingly. We will NOT tolerate infighting nor abuse of characters outside of the rp.
Citizenship is a privilege, not a right, and thus you must actively apply for it as well as continue to earn it throughout your life.

Applying for citizenship
- A Free seeking citizenship in Schendi shall have to have been a resident of Schendi for 6 hands and 1 passage hand (a month and a half). Once this is completed, someone not of the applicant's bloodline must stand up and elect and or vouch for them. Then among the Free of Schendi, a popular vote shall be taken. if the votes rule in the favor of the Applicant, they may become a citizen of Schendi.
- Upon reaching your intellectual majority, you must perform the citizenship ceremony. Age 15
Failure to perform the citizenship ceremony within one year of reaching your intellectual majority,if born within the city or to citizens of the city:
Punishment: Expulsion from the city.
- You can renounce your existing citizenship and acquire citizenship in another city. Obviously, you must be accepted by this other city as a citizen, meeting all prerequisites that are in place.
- Citizens of Schendi may not be enslaved by foreign creditors without the permission of the Council.
- Every citizen must journey, at least once, to the Sardar Mountains before they are twenty-five years old.This is monitored by the Caste of Initiates
Oath of Disownment:
Is acceptable within Schendi-The disowned lose all connection to their family as well as all caste rights. This usually happens if you fall to a collar.
Collaring
- Unowned slaves entering the city should be aware that they risk being collared. Schendi is considered a “force collar zone”.
- Runaways that have a collar, shall be kept in the collar for one to two gorean weeks so that the owner may have time to retrieve their property. If the property is unclaimed in the allotted time, the kajira or kajirus shall be cut from the previous collar and another collar shall be placed on them, marking them property of Schendi. No allies of Schendi, or those we have a trade agreement with shall be collared.
